The Council of the Methodist University Ghana invites applications from qualified and competent persons for the position of Vice Chancellor of the University which becomes vacant on 1st August, 2024.
The University
The University is a religious institution. Persons applying should be Christians with high moral values taking into consideration the University’s mission of Excellence, Morality and Service.
The Position/Functions
The Vice Chancellor is, under the direction of the University Council, the academic and administrative head, as well as the Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University. He/She is also responsible to the University Council for maintaining and promoting the good order and efficiency of the University. His/Her other functions are prescribed by the Statutes of the University.
Qualifications and Experience
The person must be of a Professorial rank with extensive research and administrative leadership. He/She must be an individual with a high sense of industry, high integrity with exemplary leadership, a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, zeal and energy needed to carry out the University’s mission and vision.
Applicants must also show evidence of the following qualities:
- Demonstrated experience in university governance;
- Ability to foster and promote good internal and external relations of the University;
- Ability to project effectively the image of the University nationally and internationally;
- Proven capacity to provide strong, visionary leadership and innovation for the University;
- Must have fund raising capabilities;
- Must have a proven track record of initiating, leading and managing change.
Tenure of Office
The appointment, which is a contract appointment, shall be for four (4) years in the first instance and may be renewed for at least two (2) years after evaluation of performance. The person must be able to hold office for four (4) years from the date of appointment before attaining the age of sixty-five (65).
