MUG Supplementary Examinations 2022/2023 Academic year

INTRODUCTION

  • There will be supplementary examinations for the 2022/2023 academic year.
  • It will take effect from 1st August 2023 and end on mid-September 2023.
  • It will include both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • This exercise is to enable students who have failed one or two courses to redeem their failed grades and enable them to progress to the next level or graduate in the current academic year.

WHY THE NAME SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS?

  • Resit students can only register additional courses in the current academic year in terms of semester by semester basis.
  • The reason is that the previous academic year’s 2nd semester cannot be loaded with additional registered courses.

PERIOD OF THE SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS

  • A week to reopening for the first semester of every academic year.
  • The supplementary examination is for all those students who have failed some courses during the previous academic year.

BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES

  1. Continuing students can now register two additional courses in addition to their semester registered courses for a particular semester instead of just one course if they join the main semester to resit their failed papers.
  2. Students who have completed their various programmes of study and have failed some courses will now have the opportunity to resit their failed papers soonest and then can focus on other things. More especially the international students.
  3. Students who have completed and join the supplementary examinations can only graduate in the current academic year in the short term. However, in the long run, this problem is likely to be eliminated because most failed courses are recorded at the lower levels.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The supplementary examinations shall be limited to:
  1. Continuing students of MUG.
  2. Students who have completed their various programmes of study at MUG.
  3. MUG students who may have some failed papers to redeem.
