ADDENDUM

RE: APPOINTMENT OF REGISTRAR

Reference is made to the advertisement which appeared in the Daily Graphic Newspaper on February 26, 2024 inviting qualified applicants to apply for the post of Registrar of MUG.

We wish to inform all prospective applicants that the closing date for submission of applications has been extended from April 5, 2024 to April 30, 2024.

All other information in the advert below remains unchanged:

Applications are invited from qualified, results-driven and competent persons to fill the position of REGISTRAR, which will become vacant on August 1, 2024.

THE INSTITUTION

The Methodist University Ghana (MUG) is a Christian, private tertiary institution established by The Methodist Church Ghana. The University has campuses in Accra, (Dansoman), Tema and Wenchi. Our motto is “Excellence Morality Service”.

THE ROLE

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the University under the Vice-Chancellor and in accordance with the University Statutes and policy directives of the University Council. The Registrar is also the Secretary to the University Council and Academic Board. S/he provides strategic advice and briefings to the Vice-Chancellor and is expected to provide leadership and management across a wide range of activities.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The university seeks candidates with vision, proven administrative and academic distinction, managerial ability, integrity, and transparency in private and public life.

The successful candidate shall be a person with excellent interpersonal relations, must be able to instill confidence in others, as well as command loyalty and respect.

The successful candidate must understand fully, the complexity of a university system and be able to effectively utilise its human resources to maintain a world-class administrative system and will be required to demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, precision, and professionalism.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must:

  1. possess at least a Master’s Degree in a relevant field of study. A legal background may be an advantage.
  2. have at least fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience in tertiary education management or in management positions in industry, or any relevant public service organisation. At least, six (6) out of the relevant years of experience should have been at a Senior Assistant Registrar or equivalent Senior Management level in private or public service.
  3. demonstrate evidence of Management Writings that have contributed to the effective management of an institution of higher learning or industry;
  4. have excellent managerial, communication and interpersonal skills with a strong sense of morality and integrity;
  5. have an understanding of the history and evolution of universities, as well as local higher education policies and practice;
  6. have considerable experience in dealing with a wide range of internal and external publics.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

The appointment is full time. The successful candidate should be able to serve at least four (4) years in office before reaching the age of sixty-five (65).
