Message from the Head
The Human Resource Section is under the Registrar’s Office. The section aims at producing top-notch human resources who will be better equipped to fulfil the University’s legally mandated obligations.
The Section’s responsibilities include providing the University with strategic planning for human resource management. It is also responsible for;
- Staff recruitment, selection and placement
- administering Conditions of Service of staff and statutes
- custody of employee records
- coordinating the development and implementation of human resource policies of the University
- provision of policy options on human resource-related issues through the Registrar for the consideration of appropriate committees by submitting papers and memoranda
- keeping accurate and up to date staff records
- ensuring the timely renewal and termination of employment contracts
- instituting and maintaining a system to monitor and evaluate staff performance
- facilitating the processes for staff appointments and promotions
- managing and advising on the collective bargaining processes and agreements with unionised staff
- instituting a system for continuing education and in-service training for all employees of the University
- Work on Leave matters (i.e. Leave of Absence, Annual, Casual, Sick, Maternity, Sabbatical, Study, etc.)
- Monitoring of staff attendance
- Serving on committees including the University Appointments and Promotions Committee and Board, Staff Development Committee and Development Committee
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the Registrar.
