INSTITUTE OF WESLEYAN THEOLOGICAL STUDIES (IWTS)
Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Institute of Wesleyan Theological Studies (IWTS), a centre dedicated to advancing theological education, research, and leadership formation grounded in the rich Wesleyan tradition.
Since the arrival of Methodism in Ghana in 1835, Wesleyan theology has played a transformative role in shaping the nation’s spiritual, educational, moral, and social landscape. From pioneering formal education and healthcare to promoting justice, ethical leadership, and compassionate service, the enduring legacy of John Wesley’s teachings continues to influence individuals, communities, and institutions across Ghana. The Institute of Wesleyan Theological Studies has been established to preserve, deepen, and extend this legacy through rigorous scholarship, practical ministry, and meaningful engagement with contemporary society.
At IWTS, we believe that theological education is not merely an academic pursuit but a lifelong journey of spiritual formation, intellectual growth, and faithful service. Guided by the core Wesleyan principles of social holiness, practical holiness, justice, education, compassion, and grace, we seek to equip clergy, lay leaders, scholars, and all who desire to serve God and humanity with wisdom, integrity, and excellence.
Our Institute provides a vibrant environment for learning, research, and dialogue where biblical truth meets contemporary challenges. Through our academic programmes, leadership development initiatives, research activities, and continuing education opportunities, we aim to prepare individuals who will make meaningful contributions to the Church, academia, public service, and society at large.
Whether you are a prospective student, researcher, church leader, ministry worker, partner institution, or visitor, we warmly welcome you to our community of faith and learning. We invite you to explore our programmes, engage with our scholarly resources, and join us in our shared mission of nurturing leaders who embody the transforming power of God’s grace and the enduring values of the Wesleyan tradition.
Together, let us continue to build a society characterised by faith, justice, compassion, integrity, and service for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom.
Grace and peace be with you.
