Methodist University Ghana (MUG) conducted its 13th Matriculation Ceremony on Friday, February 27 2026, to officially welcome 960 new students of the January 2025/2026 cohort into the university community. The event took place at the Dansoman Campus and marked the beginning of their academic journey at MUG.
In his speech, Vice-Chancellor Professor William Baah-Boateng highlighted the importance of the matriculation ceremony, emphasizing that it is more than a formal event. He reminded students of their commitment to uphold the university’s core values of Excellence, Morality, and Service, as well as to abide by the institution’s rules and regulations. He encouraged the students to maintain a positive attitude towards both their academic and social lives while staying true to their religious and ethical beliefs.
Professor Baah-Boateng also urged students to make the most of MUG’s faith-based educational environment by actively participating in worship services and other religious activities. He stressed the importance of adhering to academic and behavioral standards and maintaining a clean and peaceful campus environment. The Vice-Chancellor reminded the students that the Matriculation Oath they took binds them to comply with the university’s regulations.
Additionally, he advised the students to avoid examination malpractice, drug abuse, and alcohol misuse, and encouraged them to seek support from the counseling unit if they encounter any challenges.
The ceremony was graced by the university’s leadership, faculty members, invited guests, as well as the new students and their families.
