Chairman of council inaugurates 2024-2028 strategic plan team

The 2024-2028 Strategic Plan team has been inaugurated by the Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Chairman of the University Council and Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Dansoman Campus.

Speaking at the short ceremony, he stated that as MUG moves forward into a time of great change and uncertainty, it has become increasingly important for us to come together to work towards common goals to plan and strategize for the future.

He also said that the Strategic Plan Team will play a vital role in shaping our collective future.

He advised the team to get hold of all media to enhance their teamwork and partnership, be responsible for examing new trends, identifying areas for growth and development, and develop a comprehensive strategy for achieving the shared objectives.  

MUG Management submitted a proposal to Council for the preparation of a new Strategic Plan. Council at its 84th meeting, held on March 23, 2023, decided that an external consultant should be employed to do the work. Management in consultation with Council agreed that the Team indicated below should be employed to prepare the strategic plan (2024 – 2028):

–         Rev. Canon John J.M Martey – Consultant

–         Prof. Clifford Amoako – Team Member

–         Very Rev. Prof. John DK Ekem – Team Member

–         Mrs. Barbara Opoku – Secretary

In response, Rev. Canon John J.M Martey thanked the Church and management for entrusting the team with the task to do a good job. He stated that through the team’s work, the University will pursue growth through traditional and new ways of teaching-learning, which a lot would depend on the faculties and departments.

He promised that his team would be committed to the task given to them to submit the work by the end of October.

The Chairman of the University Council thanked the team for accepting to work with the University at the time of having its charter. He also promised to collaborate and support the team to meet its deadline.
